6 - What do you need?

Our failure to secure our first Catalyst funding came with the realization that the concepts seemingly so revolutionary and liberating to us were going to be difficult to sell, even to the enlightened Cardano community let alone the wider masses. A time based financial system is a unusual concept at the best of times but in a world where crypto is still associated with fraud, criminals and at best speculation we would need to take a new approach. To work, our system needed participants, users, and for mass adoption it needed to be accessible, regardless of Web3 knowledge.

We decided therefore that the Addonx community must be open to all. We decided to refocus, the payment methods and Web3 tokenization would still be there but more in the background. Our platform would primarily help users connect with other users who could help them. In our free time we started to build and in autumn 2024 the first prototype platform emerged.

Everyone needs something at some point and, usually, everyone has some form of knowledge, skill or expertise which they can offer to someone else. Our platform helps connect the people who need things with the people who can meet those needs. We decided to start here and began building a place which allows users to post publicly what they need and also allows users to browse those posts. Each user can create a profile which highlights their own skills, experience and expertise and if they see a need that they would like to help with, they can offer their service.

We would create a matchmaker for professional needs, a dating App for skills and services. The concept was simple and could apply both offline and online, locally and globally. When a match was made, users would connect and a transaction agreed. The platform would facilitate Web1/2 transactions but would encourage Web3. Users will grow their status within the platform and greatly increase their transaction possibilities by adopting Web3 payment methods. Firstly by connecting a wallet and benefiting from ADA or other Cardano token transactions and then being introduced to the personal token idea. A mature user will be able to transact in a variety of different ways, creating and managing their own token, using that to pay or be paid in, or they can use ADA, or even cash.

Catalyst Fund 13 has arrived. We are ready and our effort has born fruit, the first Addonx prototype platform has started taking shape. With our renewed energy and focus we will start development, hopefully, with the backing both in person and financially of the Cardano community.
